Its staff of more than 1,850 people includes over 550 industrial residents and guest researchers. To strengthen our Design and Technology Department (DTE), we are looking for a (m/f)  Researcher Compact Modeling.

Job description

You will build compact models of transistors, including novel sub-20nm and 14nm technologies and multi-gates devices. This is an exciting opportunity that bridges the gap between IC design and technology development.

Models will be built from provided experimental and TCAD results and used by the circuit design teams. You will be responsible for model development, parameters extractions, model validation and benchmarking.
You will be part of the compact models and design rules team, building PDKs to quickly meet the simulation needs of the design group for the latest imec technologies.
You will consult with the designers to comprehend evolving model requirements and resolve model-related simulation problems.
You will be working directly with different imec staff (device teams, layout team, circuit design team), but also with customers on-site assigned to the research programs.

Profile

  • You have a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics or Applied Physics.
  • Background in MOSFET physics and compact modeling (industry standards BSIM, PSP), measurement characterization techniques (DC, CV and S-parameter measurements, statistical data analysis), model parameters extraction.
  • Experience in test structures design and layout.
  • Experience in SPICE-like circuit simulations.
  • Experience in scripting and equations implementation (Matlab or equivalent, VerilogA).
  • Good understanding of device fabrication process and their impact on transistor electrical characteristics.
  • Familiarity with RF and analog circuits is a plus.
  • Self starting, creative thinker, team player, used to deal with large amount of data.
  • Fluency in English is a must in imec’s international working environment.

We offer

A challenging position in an advanced high-tech environment, in an international, interdisciplinary team. The opportunity to contribute to technologies that will have an impact on the society of tomorrow.
The salary is interesting and added with competitive extra-legal benefits. Furthermore, imec offers various training possibilities and social services, such as a company restaurant, the possibility of day care, and discounts in different sport clubs and shops.
