Function description
The complexity of mechatronic machines is continuously increasing as more and more components are integrated in these machines for realizing various functionalities. This increasing complexity makes it difficult to guarantee optimal performance of the machine, as expert knowledge does not suffice to understand the complete machine behavior. Therefore, to aid machine design and optimization, there is a strong trend in making models of machines for analyzing the effect of design modifications. Currently, FMTC is developing and implementing physically based modeling techniques for machines, with a special focus on (i) techniques to match the model characteristics with the behavior of real machines and (ii) techniques to characterize the reliability of physically inspired models. To intensify these activities, new co-workers are looked for.
With a team of mechatronics experts, you will conduct research after physical modeling techniques for mechatronic systems, methods to experimentally estimate model parameters and methods to characterize reliability of these models. Next to more theoretical work, special attention will be paid to the implementation of technologies to make them applicable for a variety of industrial systems. You will work in close collaboration with experts from our industrial partners and have regular contacts with mechatronics experts from knowledge centres in Belgium and abroad.
Profile
You have an Engineering degree, preferably in mechatronics. You have a broad technical background, including in-depth knowledge of physical modeling of mechatronic systems, and you are interested in new technologies. You are a result oriented team player with good communication skills.
