Senior Development Engineer–Embedded Electronic Systems

Barco Silex, based in Louvain-la-Neuve, is a center of excellence for electronics design in image processing, video coding and data security. The project teams of Barco Silex develop complex digital electronic systems that are integrated in the newest products of large electronic companies.

As a senior design engineer you will act as “System Architect” and be a key element of the project team. You will be in charge, based upon the customer requirements, of the project definition, the total solution to be developed, the architecture, the development, the validation and the verification of complex digital systems. You will also act as a coach to other development engineers in your competences domains.

You will be in charge or involved for the following tasks

To make the technological choices and define the architecture of digital electronics systems in order to meet performances and cost requirements.
To manage the development of embedded electronic systems / products (hardware & embedded software) using latest FPGAs and processors technologies.
To set up the right design tools and flows in order to optimally manage a design project and anticipate potential problems.
To coach other development engineers in your competences areas.
To give technical support to the sales team in order to promote our solutions to the customer.
To work in a distributed & collaborative team.
To take initiative, to show creativity. To propose enhancements in the design methodologies.
To collaborate in an international team of experienced software and hardware engineers.
To increase level of expertise in the concerned domain.

Qualifications

Qualified as B.E / M.E/ in Electronics or Computer Science
At least 5 year of experience in designing digital Electronics Hardware with complex digital electronics subsystems
Out of above, at least 2 years experience shall be in developing the architecture of complex digital embedded systems, involving:
- Various microprocessors architectures
- Embedded software definition and specification
- Advanced memories and FPGA technologies
Good knowledge of HW & SW programming languages (VHDL, C/C++,…)
Good analytical and problem solving skills
Good communication skills, good knowledge of spoken and written English
Able to work autonomously within a team
Curious and eager to learn new things
Ideally you have some knowledge and experience in network infrastructure and protocols, digital image processing, video streaming over IP or data security and encryption.
