Department Director Design and Technology



For our Process Technology (PT) unit we are currently looking for a Department Director Design and Technology.

The Design and Technology (DTE) department allows customers (IDM, fab-lite and fabless companies) to assess new technologies for their future products. It also provides input for imec technology roadmaps based on system and product specifications. As a Director you will have strategic leadership of a department that operates within a broad but bounded domain with various sub-domains. You will lead a team of Group Leaders, and be part of the board of the unit. Therefore you will play a role in the operational performance of the unit as a whole. You will be reporting to the Vice President of the Process technology unit.

Your main tasks and responsibilities are:

Policy making:

You will be responsible for the implementation of strategic unit objectives, policies and strategy in your department. You will have final responsibility for the results and for achieving targets within the department.
You are required to have an overview of the complex processes which involve more than one technical area, inside and outside the own department.
You will anticipate market trends, by using in-depth knowledge of market and organizations.

Business management:

You will set priorities and take the necessary operational decisions.
You manage the resources of the department.
You are responsible for monitoring costs and managing budget of the department.µ

People management:

You act as the inspirer of the department, and coach your team of Group Leaders towards success.
You will be responsible for managing and monitoring HR processes.

Profile:

You have a scientific degree combined with relevant management experience, preferably in a chip or computer industry.
You have strong people management skills, with a proven track record of managing highly specialized individuals and teams.
You have strong communication and presentation skills.
You have strong organizational skills and show flexibility to change your focus according to meet changing priorities.
Given the international character of imec, a fluent knowledge of English is necessary.
